December 23, 2025, Pasay City – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is fully prepared for the anticipated increase in passenger traffic this holiday season under the Department of Transportation’s Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2025.
Facility improvements at NAIA are being implemented by the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) supported by the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) to address the expected holiday travel surge and in preparation for the Philippines’ hosting of the ASEAN meetings in 2026. These upgrades underscore the need for sustained infrastructure enhancements amid steadily increasing passenger volumes.
On 16 December, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the launch of new electronic immigration gates and self-check-in kiosks at NAIA. These systems utilize passport scanning, facial recognition, and automated check-in technologies, significantly reducing processing times and enhancing overall passenger flow.
The NNIC projects that more than 2.5 million passengers will pass through NAIA from 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, with daily passenger traffic reaching up to 170,000. To manage this influx, Oplan Pasko 2025 has been activated, which includes the deployment of additional personnel, the operation of passenger assistance desks across all terminals, and strengthened coordination with airlines and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
Passengers are advised to allocate additional travel time, stay informed on traffic conditions, and strictly observe baggage regulations, including restrictions on power banks. Authorities likewise caution against the use of illegal transport services, as police visibility and security presence have been heightened throughout the terminals.
Taken together, these measures reflect the close collaboration among the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), and New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) in ensuring NAIA’s readiness for peak travel periods and major international events. This partnership exemplifies President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s program on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP), through which government oversight and private sector expertise are aligned to deliver modern, efficient, and better passenger services.
